Embracing customer reviews



Online stores have become a sensation as ecommerce grows day by day. Customer reviews play an important role for the other customers as well as the online store itself. If the reviews are used tactically, they can bring effective changes to the services of the store and hence produce a greater name in the market.

Advantages of reviews for online stores
Many customers nowadays go through the reviews about the company or the product before buying it. If the ratings or reviews of a product are good enough, the percentage of its sale will automatically increase. If negative comments are there on the website, a large number of people will refrain for buying the product. The reviews on the websites are mostly positive and can be very helpful to the company.


Building trust
The trust between the company and the customer is very important in ecommerce. The products are intangible to the customers, so they will buy the product on the basis of that trust. If the reviews mark the product as reliable and of good quality, chances are that the sale will shoot up soon.

Encouraging customer reviews
Most of the people will just buy the product and not come back to the website to comment about it. Different ways can be used to encourage the customers to review the product and comment online. Sending the customers friendly email is one way to inspire them to review the product.  The emails should be sent a few times in a while so that the customers do not get annoyed. Give the customer adequate time to know the product enough to make a comment on it. One should gently and kindly ask the customer to visit the site again and review the product.

Most of the websites ask the customers to fill a list of form before submitting their review. That is something no one wants to waste their time on. The process should be easy and short. Adding rewards to this can also help getting the customer interested in the website such as offering coupons and for further shopping.

Some important tools and processes are required to carry out the task. Email marketing is very important in efficiently. Gathering the reviews and getting back to the customers is a task. The best way to manage this is to automate the process so that the employees don’t have to do it over and over. Email marketing software are available that contain autoresponders. The autoresponders can be set to contact the customer after a number of days after delivery. The content is fed to the autoresponders that can be edited or changed if required.

Posting the reviews online
Reviews about different products should be added to the product reviews so that other customers may take a look at it and decide to buy a product. This can boost the sale by folds.  It is very less likely that customers nowadays won’t see the product review before buying it. While we are choosing an app from the app store, we always look at the reviews and usually reject an app if the reviews are not supporting the product.


Handling negative reviews
Responding to negative reviews is even more important than the positive reviews. The best way to answer such comment is to accept them and to promise the customer to find out ways to address the problem highlighted by them. If the comments are false allegation and hurt the reputation of the company, they should we wisely disapproved and the owner should be asked to remove the comment as soon as possible.
